What will the next two years look like?
October 11, 2014, was the day I purchased my Younique presenters kit and became a business owner. Now I cannot believe it has been over two years since I took the leap and started my own Younique business.
I was on maternity leave and everything was to the penny, but I knew in my heart, I needed to spend $119 on that presenters kit. Within a week I had made my investment back. I would like to say I learned what Network Marketing was all about right away, but I did not.
I knew the industry, as my husband and I had joined a few companies prior to Younique. We had some success, however the products and business models did not ignite any passion in me, so the excitement soon fizzled for me.
Without a passion for your company and products, you do not have much of a foundation. Well that is my belief at least. Network marketing is an incredible industry because there is zero discrimination. Anyone can change their life in this industry and I mean anyone. We do not need to see resumes, go through 3 interviews, wait for call backs and sign any offer letters. We are not told what our value is or what time to show up.
It really is an amazing opportunity if you see it for what it is. Unfortunately most people do not. Words like Pyramid scheme and spamming are often associated with NM. The scheme and scams I do not see, I mean how is selling makeup or weight loss shakes and getting paid to do so a scam? How is sharing the business and opportunity, building a team with like-minded people and making an income off that time and effort a scam?
Anywhoo…spamming on the other hand, I see. What I mentioned before about NM having zero discrimination does have its downfall. You see not everyone understands this industry and the level of effort and self development you need to commit to become successful.
When I first started, nobody had really told me that to start your own business and to be successful, I would need to do some incredibly hard self reflection and growing. You see, if you think it’s all selling and recruiting, I am sorry to say, but you are incorrect.
How you view yourself and how you think are the two biggest components that are either holding you back or pushing you forward into your life of choice.
Self development is huge! Like everyday, constant and consistent growth huge. And if you think that you can buy a kit, spam your link to everyone of your Facebook friends, post a few pics and BLING BLING, you are a millionaire…you will quit this industry. If you have that mindset and it never changes, you will quit and tell everyone that NM does not work.
Like most careers and businesses, nothing is instant. You must practice, learn and teach. If you spam everyone with a copy and paste message about how much they could make if they joined you, you my friend, are giving all us Network Marketers a bad name.
On the other hand, for someone like me, who does not believe in mass messaging or insincere conversations, when I do reach out and say “I think you would be wonderful at this” or “you need this opportunity as much as it needs you”, I am not counting numbers or tracking names, I am sincerely reaching out because something in that person makes me want to run with them and be success partners.
Yes, I have HUGE goals with my business and when I say HUGE, I mean HUGE!! GIGANTIC!! UNBELIEVABLE 7 FIGURE goals!! However those goals are not exclusive to just me. I think everyone should have HUGE goals if that is what they want.
I do not want to be sitting on the beach by myself! I want to be surrounded by fellow successful people. People I call my friends, teammates, challengers and positive influences in my life. Just like how I would want to be viewed by them.
Could you imagine building a team and being apart of a parent being able to stay at home with their children, a final payment to a credit card, a first airplane ride, first trip outside of Canada, new wardrobe, a purchase of a reliable car, a father retiring and being at home with his kids, charities being started, creating philanthropists, top of the line medical treatment, being somebodies hero….just because you saw something in them that you knew could take them to the top with your support, leadership and hard work?
Could you imagine having an impact on someone’s life like that?
That my dear is what my heart is about. Yes, I want financial freedom and the Louis Vuitton bag, but in all honesty, I want to impact someone so much that all they can do is be their best self. And you know what? That is what Younique did for me. It made me realize that a mission to Uplift, Empower and Validate women is exactly my jam. It is exactly what I am about. Confident and bold women bringing home the cheddar and loving what they do.
My first real experience of feeling this mission was August 2015. My first Younique convention. I flew to Chicago, where it was held, with a fellow team member. We met two other ladies off our team there. I remember walking into the hotel and being greeted by a very long and loud lineup of women. There were Younique signs everywhere. Our brand, our logo, our mission was everywhere.
The first night, we had a eighties themed party with a DJ. So, I put on my Billy Idol shirt, teased my hair, applied my moodstruck pigment in baby blue and hit the hotel lobby. The buzz I felt that night, the energy of 5000 women all having fun and encouraging one another. Women living outside the comfort of their homes and regular attire, thrilled me to my core. I wish I could bottle the energy up for you, better yet, I wish for you to join me next year at our convention in New Orleans.
I am here to tell you that the Younique opportunity is no joke. It’s not a spammed message or one dude making all the money, it is a legit and possible way to make an income and change your life.
My Younique journey has pulled me out of my comfort zone. It’s had extremely frustrating moments and unforgettable magical moments. It’s given me a confidence that I never ever that I would have. It has given me the most incredible friendships and support.
I have the honour to run with some very driven and passionate ladies. Our entire team, Bold Beauties, are incredible and I am always so proud and excited to see their growth and the results they create for themselves.
If you think that all I want to do is recruit you so I can benefit, you have me all wrong.
I still have a lot of hard work ahead of me, some major goals to hit and a lot more women to support. I have learnt a lot these past two years and am so grateful to continue to grow with Younique.
In a time when struggle is apparent, I want to help as many women realize their life of choice is achievable and that we are in control.
Eek! That gives me goosebumps! I am so obsessively grateful.
If you ask yourself what will the next two years look like? Just ask one of my favourite mentors, Jim Rohn. “The next two years will look exactly like the last two years. For things to change, you have to change”.
I will end with a thank you to all my customers, everyone who has supported me, my family and my incredible husband, Sheldon, who talks me out of my funks (yes, they happen) and always says “yes”. Cheers to your incredibly successful, full of growth, abundant, wealthy, duplicating and passionate leading, next two years if you decide to take the leap of faith.
Light and Love,
